Getting Started
Timechain EVM extends the Analog network, enabling you to deploy and run Solidity smart contracts directly within the Timechain environment.
- Status: Currently in active development (Early Access).
- Opportunity: Be among the first builders to explore Timechain EVM, collaborate with our team, influence its development, and gain early experience building cross-chain applications.
Connect to Timechain EVM
There are currently two ways to connect to the Timechain EVM:
- Integration Environment: This environment allows you to develop on the Analog's Integration network. See Network Configuration for more details.
- Local Development Environment: This environment is set up on your local machine. See Network Configuration for more details.
On the Analog Integration Environment
This guide outlines how to configure MetaMask for the Analog Integration Network and transfer DANLOG tokens to your MetaMask EVM account.
1. Configure MetaMask for Analog Integration Network
- Install MetaMask:
Download and install the MetaMask extension if not already installed. - Add Analog Integration Network:
- Open MetaMask → Click the network dropdown (default: "Ethereum Mainnet").
- Select Add network → Add a network manually.
- Enter these details:
- Network Name:
Analog Integration - RPC URL:
https://eth-rpc.integration.analog.one/ - Chain ID:
12850 - Currency Symbol:
DANLOG - Block Explorer URL: Leave blank
- Network Name:
- Click Save.
- Connect to Analog Integration:
- From the network dropdown, select Analog Integration.
- Your DANLOG balance will display
0(initially).
2. Transfer DANLOG to MetaMask
Prerequisite: Ensure you have DANLOG tokens in an account on the Analog Integration Environment on Polkadot.js.
- Map Your Account:
- Go to Developer → Extrinsics in Polkadot.js Apps.
- Select your DANLOG-funded account.
- Configure:
- extrinsic: revive → map_account()
- Click Submit Transaction → Sign.
- Transfer DANLOG:
- In Developer → Extrinsics:
- extrinsic: revive → call()
- Parameters:
dest: Your MetaMask EVM address (e.g.,0x818F...058b3).value: DANLOG amount (in smallest units, e.g.,50000000000000000for5000DANLOG).gasLimit:100000000storageDepositLimit:100000000data:0x
- Click Submit Transaction → Sign.
- In Developer → Extrinsics:
- Verify Transfer:
- Check your MetaMask wallet. The DANLOG balance should update within moments.
DANLOG is the native token of the Analog Integration environment. It's needed to cover gas fees when you deploy and interact with smart contracts. A public faucet to claim DANLOG directly to MetaMask (for EVM use) is not yet available. We'll announce when it launches.
Deploy Your First Contract
Let's deploy your first contract on the Timechain EVM using Remix.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure you have the following:
- MetaMask installed and connected to the Analog Integration network. Alternatively, you could use a locally running development node.
- A funded account.
Procedure
- Go to the Remix IDE:
https://remix.polkadot.io/ - Create a new file (e.g.,
Storage.sol) in thecontractsfolder. - Paste the following simple Solidity contract:
// SPDX-License-Identifier: MIT
pragma solidity ^0.8.0;
contract Storage {
uint256 private value;
function store(uint256 newValue) public {
value = newValue;
}
function retrieve() public view returns (uint256) {
return value;
}
}- Compile the contract:
- Go to the "Solidity Compiler" tab (left sidebar) and compile the contract (ensure the compiler version matches the pragma).
- Deploy the contract:
- Navigate to the "Deploy & Run Transactions" tab.
- In the "ENVIRONMENT" dropdown, select "Injected Provider - MetaMask". Ensure MetaMask is connected to the correct network and your desired account is selected.
- Ensure the correct account is selected in MetaMask and Remix.
- Ensure "Storage" is selected in the "Contract" dropdown.
- Click the "Deploy" button.
- MetaMask will pop up asking you to confirm the transaction and show the gas cost. Confirm the transaction.
- Wait for the transaction to be confirmed.
- Once confirmed, the deployed contract will appear under "Deployed Contracts" in the Remix "Deploy & Run Transactions" tab.
If you're using a local node and restart it, you'll need to reset your MetaMask nonce. Here's how:
- Go to MetaMask Settings.
- Click on Advanced.
- Select "Clear activity tab data."
