Analog GMP
Analog GMP is a messaging protocol powered by the Timechain and designed to facilitate the creation of cross-chain dApps . Developers can use it to send arbitrary messages (data), tokens, and initiate actions across different blockchains.
As a general message-passing protocol, you can use Analog GMP to build any arbitrary cross-chain dApp. Developers are leveraging Analog GMP to build notable solutions such as:
- Zenswap: An innovative solution for native cross-chain swaps that leverages USDC routing.
- PixelPort: A novel NFT solution that maximizes NFT potential through cross-chain minting, fractionalization, and transfer.
Follow the Quickstart Guide below to begin developing with Analog GMP.
You can initiate calls from EVM contracts or execute complex logic on the Timechain in response to a GMP message by building on the Timechain EVM. For more details, see Timechain EVM.

Core Features
Analog GMP is architected with the following features in mind:
Permissionless interoperability
Analog GMP is designed to be permissionless. Anyone can run the Timechain nodes that verify and execute cross-chain messages, and anyone can build dApps that integrate with it.
Defense-in-depth security
The protocol's message transport layer is powered by the Timechain—a sovereign blockchain that uses staked tokens for economic security. Threshold Signature Schemes (TSS) also provide another layer of security to Analog GMP.
Chain-Agnostic Design
Analog GMP is designed to be chain-agnostic, empowering developers to build efficient cross-chain dApps across a wider range of blockchain networks.
Future-proof
Analog GMP supports continuous updates, including onboarding new chains, adding new security features, and providing advanced functionalities like cross-chain automation.
Composability
Analog GMP’s design allows for composable dApps, enabling developers to build as if on one chain. For example, Zenswap’s integration with Circle CCTP expands the design space for cross-chain DeFi with native USDC transfers.
Optimized gas payment mechanism
Analog GMP uses several mechanisms to enhance gas efficiency for developers and users interacting with the gateways (e.g., an upgradeable proxy that is EIP-1167 and EIP-1967-compliant , branchless optimizations , minimal on-chain storage, etc.). Check out this post for more details.
